Analysis of the early education project that has been funded by the Café Femenino Foundation for seven years (2013-2019) was completed. Each year 15 Early Education Centers in areas of extreme poverty receive funding for nutritional and hygiene education for children. Each year the project is measured by nurses traveling to these areas and weighing children, measuring children, performing phsycomotor skills tests and more. This project including gathering all that data and analyzing it.
The 12 young nurses that travel to perform this work are hard to keep. They travel for long periods leaving the big cities to very rural impoverished areas by car. This travel is not easy. They are away from their families for a long time for very little compensation.
Analysis of the data gathered is the best way to evaluate the impact of training the teachers, educating parents in the importance of early stimulation: psychomotor education and nutritional education that contributes to the best growth and development of children under 5 years of age in the areas of highest poverty of the region Lambayeque, Cajamarca and Amazonas from 2013 – 2019.
Specifically these areas were focused on:
-Analyze the experiences of the impact of activities developed in the community to achieve the best growth and development of children under 5 years of age.
-Training the teacher to contribute to the monitoring of the nutritional status of children under 5 years of age, applying simple measurement techniques; coordinating with parents and the health sector to reduce chronic malnutrition in children.
-Implement early stimulation strategies in aspects of psychomotor education in children aged 3 to 5, with integrated participation from the health and education sectors.
-Train the teacher and parents in the nutritional value of food, nutritious lunchbox, harmful habits, hygiene habits and in the use of food in the area, in order to avoid malnutrition in their children.
-Contribute to the improvement of infrastructure, classroom setting, development of educational tools and materials to improve the teacher’s capacity to achieve the project objectives.
-Design and interpret the consolidated project information compiled from the 7 years of intervention, through statistical and computer programs with critical and reflective analysis
