The Cafe Femenino Foundation's Breast Cancer Awareness prevention program. Breast cancer is the most common first neoplasm among Peruvian women with more than 6,000 diagnoses per year. 90% of cases have a high chance of cure if detected in early stages, improving their prognosis and quality of life.This Breast Cancer Prevention Workshop is aimed at reducing cases of breast cancer by educating the women on ways to detect the symptoms of possible breast cancer, share the basic concepts related to risk factors for developing cancer, such as genetic factors, harmful habits such as smoking, alcohol consumption, exposure to solar radiation, poor nutrition, obesity, infections and hormones. Workshops will include early-cancer detection, as well as, provide information on where to seek assistance should a suspected case arise. and resources available in the event of a possible case.

This Prevention Campaign as an educational project that serves as a vital tool for facilitating training and, ultimately, improving the health of women in rural areas.This grant will cover costs of the self-care and self-exam materials for 100 women, medical consultation and mammography to establish a diagnosis if cancer is suspected and cost of the workshop facilitator. The 100 women invited to participate will be from the ASPAPE, ASPROAGRO AND ASPAS organizations in the region of Cajamarca.
